My own individual idea for a title sequence would be a teen horror not much information on the film would be given away in the opening title sequence however I would make my target audeice of teenagers and young adults clear by the small detail that are shown and the characters that are introduced. I would introduce the main characters which would be a group of three teenage girls, in a school classroom - this would set the scene and give the audience a location, this would give the audience a feel for the genre allowing them to decide wether or not they want to continue watching based on there own personal genre preferences.
My idea would be similar to other mainstream teen thrillers.
Scream is an example of a teen thriller that i would use to help me gather and create my own teen thriller ideas.
Scream has a mainly young adult target audience, which would be the same target audience i would use for my film, However scream is a big mainstream film with a large budget, famous actors and large worldwide known distribution company. My film would be the opposite of this having a small indpendent distribution company and a low budget.
Scream has followed the generic codes and conventions of horror films having the main character as a female which has connotations of vulnerability. the main female character also has blonde hair and blue eyes which has strong connotations of innocence.

Task 21: Evaluation
The breakfast club shot by shot remake Evaluation
whilst watching the opening title sequence of the breakfast club for the first time we didn't attempt to note down any shots, we just watched it through to get a feel of the genre. When watching it for the second time it was easy to note down all the it's as we had knowledge on all the different shot names and types. It was slightly difficult to create a storyboard because we had to adapt the shots from the breakfast club to the locations and probs that were accessible to us, for some shots we had different props and locations to the breakfast club but still used the same shot type to capture it. Our location had a huge impact on our final result because it was hard to copy the settings shown in the breakfast club, once we understood and was comfortable with using the different Editing softwares, we decided to use font and colours similar to the ones shown in the breakfast club for our credits and title, this was overall successful and made our opening title sequence look similar to the original. We placed our titles on a blank screen so it was clear. If I was to complete the task again I would do much more planning for location as it was a challenge to shoot certain shots without catching people in the background, ultimately this made our opening title sequence look messy and organised

Post 3 - The purpose of a opening sequence
Crediting
Titles are often used to showcase the cast and the crew involved in the production. Some of the benefits of crediting an actor include :
-Promotion for the actor
-Actor can develop a positive association with a particular format/genre/production company as a result
Billing order
Anywhere from one to three lead actors are often listed just before the title. Its similar position to the auteur, as the presence of these star actors is the reason many people came to see the movie. For example, a new franchise has been released and not many people know about it, having big stars credited makes the audience more inclined to watch the film, due to that fact that if they are associated with big, successful films it sets the tone for the film they are about to watch.
Task 15 why sound is important.
Sound is important for many reasons. It can drastically change the atmospheric feel of any film. Sound in horror films can be used in a variety of different ways, for instance slow dark sounded music can create and Erie setting, which overall makes the film more scary, because it adds and extra their of definition within the setting. Another way in which sound can be used within a horror film is to scare the audience. Within typical jump scares there is sharp sounds that make the audience jump, hence the term (Jump scare). More often than not within horror films, silence is used quite often. This keeps the audience on edge due to the the fact that they don't know what to expect, making it a good opportunity to jump scare the audience.

Genre shortlist, Three different genres and what each one is.
Action - One genre I was considering was action. An action genre may include physical feats, extended fight scenes, violence and frantic chases. The reason as to why the action genre was one of the genres I was considering is because its both fun to do, and it also allows me to be flexible in what I do within the opening scene. This is because it allows me to use a wide array of actions elements without it being doing over powering due to the fact that most action scenes are over the top in the making.
Thriller - Thriller was another movie genre I was considering. The Thriller genre uses elements of suspense, tension as its main devises. The reason as to why I was considering the thriller genre was because it allows for me to be more creative. This is because within the thriller genre there are elements of suspense, tension and a heavy story to drive it all. The reason why I find this creative is due to the fact that the thriller genre is heavy in terms of the narrative, Which makes it possible to shape both an engaging and entertaining story.
Horror - Although horror was last on my list in terms of genres I was considerings... it doesn't deduct from the fact that it was thought about. The horror genre has elements of tension, suspense and the occasional jump scare. The reason as to why I was considering doing this genre was because I found the concept of getting into the audiences mind and making them scared...fun. Another reason as to why i was thinking about doing the horror genre was because it allows me to be completely outlandish in terms of what my narrative can be. This is because horror story's can range from psychopaths to werewolves and zombies.

Task 19: evidence of filming
Filming
whilst filming we went out and around the college looking for similar locations to the locations seen in our chosen shot by shot remake, The breakfast club, once we found locations suitable for the specific scene we was shooting we shot the necessary shot making sure to have loads of footage to then make it easier and simpler for us to edit. We repeated all our shots at least 3 times so that we didn't become limited in the amount of footage we had to edit.

Genre Shortlist
Genre list:
- Thriller - The thriller genre has elements of tension and suspense.
- Crime - The crime genre can be flexible as in you can star it on both the law enforcement side of it or the actual crime side of the genre.
- Action - Action has fast paste elements which could include fight scenes and chase scenes.
Sound
Why is sound so important in a film?
Sound is used in films to set atmosphere and tone. It allows viewers to hear how loud/quiet an action is.
Dialogue is the most important sound in a film. Without it, the audience wont be as clear on what' happening in the movie.
Director of star wars, George Lukas quotes 'Sound is 50%'. Without sound you only have half the movie.
Sound is vibrations that travel through the air that can be heard.
Soundscape is a piece of music considered in terms of its component sounds.
Sound Design is the process of specifying, acquiring, manipulating or generating audio elements.
Suspending Disbelief is a willingness to suspend one's critical faculties and believe the unbelievable; sacrifice of realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment.
Sound Terms:
Wild Track: removes and replaces background sound.
Ambient Sound: original footage sound.
Diegetic: all the sounds on the film set.
Non-diagetic: sound added during production.
Score: orchestrally composed sound.
Voiceover: recording over the original footage (eg.narrative).
Dialogue: speech from more than one person.
Dubbing: add new voices (eg. change of language in movies).
Foley: added sound effects.
Synchronous: music matches image and mood.
Asynchronous: music does not match image and mood.
Sound bridge: links to scene.
Sound motif: sounds related to characters (eg. jaws).

Task 10 what is Genre.
Genre
Genre tells the audience mainly what type of film they are going to be watching. For example if the genre was action, the audience will feel as if there were going to be elements of violence in the film. Another example is if the genre was Horror, there would be scary elements within the film, mainly that could consist of an Erie setting, or jump scares.
Genre categorises films, and puts film in certain groups, this allows for people to filter out what types of films they enjoy, and what kind of films they don't enjoy.

Task 4, how an opening sequence can attract the audience.
A title opening sequence can both turn off an audience and also attract the audience in a positive way. One way in which a title opening sequence can attract an audience is the fact that big stars can be credited, making the audience feel more inclined to enjoy the film due to the fact that their favourite film stars, or popular film stars are staring in it.
Another way in which a title opening sequence can attract the audience is the fact that if the title opening sequence is a narrative opening sequence, and the story starts off good, it immediately sets the tone for the rest of the film, ultimately enhancing the audiences viewing experience.
Finally another way in which the opening sequence can attract the audience is through the music used. If the music is good and the audience likes it, they are going to feel more inclined to enjoy the film that they are watching.
However, in the opening of a film, audiences can also be turned off if the title opening sequence isn't good at all. For example if the music is distasteful and bad, its going to start off on the back foot of getting people immersed in the film experience.

Task 8, Favourite film
My favourite film is Southpaw. Its a heart warming story about a broken man coming to terms with the death of his wife. During the film, Billy Hope's (Main character's) daughter is taken from him due to his behaviour as a parent, and has to get back to his past life as a boxer in order to earn enough money to regain custody of his daughter.
The opening sequence shows Billy in a changing room before a big title fight that is about to take place. There is diegetic sound through, coming from the headphones the Billy is wearing during the shot. The title opening sequence was a narrative one. This is because immediately it is giving the audience information about the film, and what the film is going to be about... Boxing. The credits role showing the producers first and then the main film stars after. I feel as if the producer Antoine Fuqua was credited first due to the fact that he is immediately associated with big, successful films such as Training Day, over all setting a good expectation of the film, making the audience more inclined to watch the film.

What is genre?
Genre means category or type.
In film genre is created by using different products that have similar features.
You can recognise genre in the title sequence of a movie from things such as:
Comdey:
Anchorman 2 The Legend Continues

This movie is the second of the series Anchorman. The four main characters are well known for their appearance in other comedy movies.
Sci-fi:
Transformers Dark Of The Moon

This one of the Transformer movies. This is one of my favourtie sci-fi movies where as alot of high technology equipment has been used to design half of the charcaters. The other half consists of real people.
Chick Flick:
Clueless

This movies target audicance is aimed at young women. The teenage lifestyle creates the genre of the movie.

Favourite film
Life (1999)
Strarring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence

A movie about two different characters that come together to pay back a dangerous man. they head out on a journey and end up being charged with life for a murder they did not commit. As guilty as they are, the spend their life in prison with mulitple attempts of escaping.
The opening title sequence starts with a music track of urban music tells genre) and introducing the production company with animated credits on a black screen. The stars are the introduced on different sides of the black screen. Followed is the title which is presented in the middle of the screen.
A slide transition is then used to transfer the animated credits to a moving image. The moving image slowly zooms out and pans as the sequence goes on. Slide tranasitions are used during this to go back to the black screen then back to the moving image which is then zoomed out or panned slightly.

Task 8
4.3.2.1 is an British urban film set in London
4.3.2.1 uses the titles on a blank screen title sequence. this is used to engage the audience, the target audience for the film would be teens and young adults the title sequence uses the trick of film noir by showing the ending of the film at the start of the film, making the audience want to watch on so they can understand the storyline
Order of credits
Task 4: How can a film opening attract an audeince
How can a film opening attract an audience 'Watching'
1). When Thomas Sutcliffe says "films need to seduce
their audience into long term commitment he is referring to thriller openings,
and is saying that the first part of the film has to catch their attention and
make them want to watch on, meaning the title sequence has to be creative and interesting
2). According to Jean Jacques Beineix, he says the risks of
instant arousal are what happen next in the film. The risk is that the
questions that the audience have are not being answered.
3). The beginning of the movie must show the narrative and
characters without revealing information. It is important that too much
information is not given away so that the audience are drawn into wanting to continue
watching the film.
4).Stanley Kauffmann describes a classic opening as an
establishing shot a close up of a
specific building or item, and then the camera will focus on a window, after
this the camera will show a character usually one of the main characters of the
film. he says it is a good way of revealing basics of the film, simple question
the viewer could have are answered without giving away too much detail and
information on the film
5).Kyle Cooper's title sequence to Seven is effective because
the title sequence includes shots relating to the thriller, the title sequence
introduced the main character without revealing information
6).Orson Welles wanted his film's opening to be a scene without
credits and title music as he wanted the audience to be immediately drawn into
the story, universal studios removed the effect Orson wanted by adding the
titles into the opening
7).Trick of ’Film Noir' is when the opening of a
film is the ending of the film, although it reveals the big ending the audience
watches on to understand the build-up to the ending so that the film makes
sense.
8).
In the opening of the shining the car is being tracked by
the camera from a distance which will make audiences feel as if they are
following the car making them egger to find out what happens
Task 7: credis and title sequences
Order of title sequences
Title sequences have a lot more importance to the order in
which the credits come up even if it seems like there isn't. It is also
important how many times a certain name comes up in the title sequences for
example the distributors company name might come up 3 times where as an actors
name will only come up once. This is because as the distributors they normally
would have paid the most money for the film to actually be made and seen in
cinemas so they have priority and authority over when and how many times the
company name comes up.

Task 15: why is sound so important
Why is sound so important?
Sound Is used in film to establish tone, atmosphere and to help give the audiences clues about the plot, characters or to identity the genre of the film. it is also used to help create suspense and realism for the viewer.
Sound
- keeps the audience interested
- allows you to tell the genre
- Makes the atmosphere of the setting clear
Task 10: what is genre?
What is genre?
Genre - Type or category e.g. comedy, thriller, horror
Hybrid Genre - A blend of two or more different genres e.g. rom-com (romance and comedy)

Genre also establishes certain codes and conventions to achieve a certain effect and attract their target audience. The audience can develop personal opinions around genre deciding which ones they like and dislike.
A popular Action film is fast and furious, its popular for its unique exciting storyline and famous actors (Vin Diesel, Paul Walker)
It has many conventions that it follows to engage the audience
1.Up beat music
