Task 9: Category of film opening

There are four different types of film opening:

Titles on a still image

• detailed credits
• More elaborate than simple white text 
• Sense of genre 

Titles on a black background 

• Low Budget
• Effective
• Contrast

Titles over moving images

• Metaphor
• Narrative Thread
• No dialogue 

Titles using animation or motion

• Animation text
• Digital technology 
• Stylised editing

 

My favorite type of title sequence is titles on a still image, because they are simple to understand, it introduces you to the film without giving away to much details on the story line  and allows the audience to get a feel of the genre, which ultimately determines whether or not you will continue to watch the film.
