How can a film opening attract an audience 'Watching'
1). When Thomas Sutcliffe says "films need to seduce
their audience into long term commitment he is referring to thriller openings,
and is saying that the first part of the film has to catch their attention and
make them want to watch on, meaning the title sequence has to be creative and interesting
2). According to Jean Jacques Beineix, he says the risks of
instant arousal are what happen next in the film. The risk is that the
questions that the audience have are not being answered.
3). The beginning of the movie must show the narrative and
characters without revealing information. It is important that too much
information is not given away so that the audience are drawn into wanting to continue
watching the film.
