Task 4: How can a film opening attract an audeince

How can a film opening attract an audience 'Watching'

). When Thomas Sutcliffe says "films need to seduce their audience into long term commitment he is referring to thriller openings, and is saying that the first part of the film has to catch their attention and make them want to watch on, meaning the title sequence has to be creative and interesting
). According to Jean Jacques Beineix, he says the risks of instant arousal are what happen next in the film. The risk is that the questions that the audience have are not being answered.

). The beginning of the movie must show the narrative and characters without revealing information. It is important that too much information is not given away so that the audience are drawn into wanting to continue watching the film.
).Stanley Kauffmann describes a classic opening as an establishing shot  a close up of a specific building or item, and then the camera will focus on a window, after this the camera will show a character usually one of the main characters of the film. he says it is a good way of revealing basics of the film, simple question the viewer could have are answered without giving away too much detail and information on the film

).Kyle Cooper's title sequence to Seven is effective because the title sequence includes shots relating to the thriller, the title sequence introduced the main character without revealing information

).Orson Welles wanted his film's opening to be a scene without credits and title music as he wanted the audience to be immediately drawn into the story, universal studios removed the effect Orson wanted by adding the titles into the opening

).Trick of ’Film Noir' is when the opening of a film is the ending of the film, although it reveals the big ending the audience watches on to understand the build-up to the ending so that the film makes sense.

). In the opening of the shining the car is being tracked by the camera from a distance which will make audiences feel as if they are following the car making them egger to find out what happens
